ARLINGTON -- Chan Ho Park gave the Texas Rangers the kind of outing they've been starving for from a starter whose name isn't Kenny Rogers or Ryan Drese.

In his first Major League start since May 19, Park allowed two runs and four hits over six innings as the Rangers beat the Minnesota Twins, 8-3, on Thursday night.

Park (3-4) was on the disabled list for 78 games due to a strained lower back, and the Rangers never needed him more, having gone through 16 different starters this season.

Park was activated prior to the game after 10 rehab starts for three different minor league clubs. Right-hander Mickey Callaway (right rotator cuff irritation) was placed on the 60-day disabled list to open a roster spot for Park.

Showalter was hoping to get five innings out of Park, and he got even more.

Texas got a run in the first against Terry Mulholland (4-7) on Soriano's RBI double, and then added two more in the second for a 3-0 lead on Blalock's run-scoring single and Eric Young's sacrifice fly.

Park struggled early, loading the bases with one out in the first on two singles and a walk. Park got the crowd on his side, however, when he struck out Lew Ford and retired Corey Koskie on a fly ball to end the threat.

Blalock padded the lead to 5-0 with his two-run shot in the fourth that cleared the wall just to the left of the foul pole in right field. Blalock has 29 homers and has gone deep in five of his last six games. The homer was his first against a left-hander since May 20.
